Thanks for the compliments! Audio is finally better... I'd been using my built-in mic on my iMac; I just didn't have anything else. But then my Blue Yeti mic showed up & it's wonderful!

Great discussion! I love my kindle and while my husband will purchase the iPad, I will swap my 1st gen kindle and snap up his 2nd gen.

I definitely don't want to be a guinea pig to the iPad 1st Gen. God, I hate that name!

TTS would have been epic! It's crazy on my GPS, I can tell you that. It's interesting to navigate the street signs & the GPS pronunciation.

So funny; both you & Kristy are ahead of me. I've been trying to finish up Wolf Hall, which I've been trudging through for awhile now. So close to finishing it that I refuse to stop now. Guess I'll be the last one to finish the book this time around.

I just wanted to thank you for picking "The Monster of Florence". I've read the intro and chapter 1, and the book is amazing! Being a native NY'er, it reminds me of the Son of Sam killings in 1976/77, only more gruesome.

I would ask you, Bonnie, to let us know how the text-to-speech does with all the Italian names, but TTS is disabled by the publisher! Bummer!!

Thanks, Bonnie, for the YouTube head's up. Now that I've looked at these, and seen David Tennent play a different role, I can see why you picked him. He WOULD make a good Mercury. BTW...do a search on Google for "t-shirt the angels have the phone box". Seriously? Yes, seriously!!

Kristy: THANK you for not going on about baseball! And, I forgot totally about the 10 virgins since that was at the beginning of the book. Thank goodness for the Kindle 'search' function. I had forgotten them getting into an argument about who was pregnant and who had an abortion. It was good for a re-laugh. And, I howled at your 'we can be found' at the end of the podcast!

Since the next book, "The Monster of Florence" is a bit expensive, I looked on-line and my library had one copy, and it was in, so I ran out today and checked it out. I hadn't been to my library since I got my Kindle. It will be fun reading a DTB for a change, though I will miss the dictionary function.

I was totally thinking David Tennant when I said that, though Christopher Eccleston was my "first" Doctor. Have you seen the clips of Tennant on YouTube from BBC's broadcast of Hamlet? It's incredible. Just incredible. I think Tennant can do anything. NPH is a great choice too, though. He's got the snark down, that's for sure.

I'd like to kick Sasha Cohen in the *shins.* I'd do that without him being Karl, actually. Don't like that guy at all. ;D

Hope you enjoy the next read. The Monster of Florence is going to be pretty "heavy." But it's time to get to some meat!

Hmmm, Dr. Who as Mercury? I never would have thought of that, but I can see your analogy. Maybe Christopher Eccleston would work, but certainly not David Tennant. For some reason, I see Neil Patrick Harris in this role.

As far as Kevin, I was thinking Stephen King, or better yet Sasha Cohen. You could give him a kick in the, um, *shins*, any time.

I thought there was too much talk about linoleum in the book, and it annoyed me a bit. As far as the physics, I would think it's not good as a portal because linoleum could be loose. They talked about the pattern on it matching the pattern at the other end. I thought of it like a pentagram, since that fits with the style of the story. You just step on one and appear standing on the other, sort of like Star Trek. I liked the books 'Grand Central' approach to them.

I imagined the 4 briefcases as being like the one that you see that has 'the button' and is always trailing the President in the movies. I am obviously not into designer ones like you gals are!

I give the book a thumb 3/4 up! Funny at times, a bit weird and satirical. Thanks for the recommendation and the tongues-in-cheek review.

I think Die Hard 1 & 2 are the best Christmas movies ever. Of course, Kristy thinks A Christmas Story is the best Christmas movie. I used to think it was Emmett Otter's Jugband Christmas, but I've only got that on VHS. So that one doesn't get watched like it used to.

At least You've Got Mail is one of the better chick flicks. I think Love Actually is a much better one, though. I mean, even my hubby can stand watching Love Actually. Convince her to watch that one next time.
